Meet Caramia and Mama and learn how it all started
The journey of Mama's rediscovery of passion for creation. The ultimately Side Quest that led to the new path of Caramia and her Mama, with loving family always near by.
Caramia and I – her Mama – began our creative business journey in the Spring of 2024. I have had a passion for creating as long as I can remember. Coloring, drawing, cutting and glueing anything I could get my hands on. Creating collages from old seventeen magazines, making handmade Christmas cards and birthday cards for every loved person in my life, doodling on the surface of every binder and every page in every binder I owned. I even painted a mural that covered the large wall in my old bedroom at my mom’s house. I’m pretty sure it’s the only reason she hasn’t moved yet. When asked she throws up her hands and states, “well I can’t take the wall with me!”
I didn’t realize how much joy the creating of things brought me until my I went to Mexico with my husband in March of 2024 to celebrate turning 40. Wave by wave the ocean exposed new and wonderful treasures, my poor husband could barely get me to leave the sandy beaches unless he promised to take me to another with yet more ocean treasures. I feel a lot like the human version of the little mermaid! I gathered these treasures absolutely everywhere we went, then created artistic scenes at each place we stayed at for the enjoyment of future current and future tenets.
Returning home to the endless errands and the never-ending daily tasks, I felt the absence of joy that creating brought me in my day-to-day life. For years I have reflected on what I want out of life. I realized much of my time in life was spent in carrying out repetitions of learned habits on autopilot: make money, work really hard, save for the future, provide for your family… I got really good at making money to care for my family, but often worked too hard to have much of myself left to give them. I sure didn’t have time or energy for things that brought me joy.
Not so long ago it dawned on me that creating art is more then just something I enjoy. It is my greatest joy and my deepest passion. It holds great weight and purpose in this life. I feel I was put on this world to create and hopefully inspire others to do the same. When I create I want to share the joy that spreads over me; I want to share it with every living being I have the pleasure of sharing my creations with. Above all, I want to teach my children to follow their passions in life and to find their own sources of joy.
This realization of purpose began the process leading to the birth of Caramia and Mama’s Infinite Side Questing Creations (they said to keep the name simple Tee Hee).
I’m still working out the kinks of starting a new business, and constantly I am faced with the dilemma: do I create what I know will sell or that I can offer at a competetive price, or do I create the time-consuming and intricate pieces that allow me to tap into my most creative mind. I struggle with how few hours there are in a day, because I simply can’t create every thing at once… Though sometimes I do try!
